The purpose of this post is three-fold. I am accomplishing:
A: Fulfilling an unwritten rule of mine to post more often than every 2 years.
B: Taking the advice from a good friend to continue posting about my thoughts and ideas.
C: Giving an update on the progress of our home remodel.
To say that I am disappointed in documenting my daily thoughts is an understatement. I personally want to post at least every week, and I have yet to accomplish this goal. I am half-way satisfied with the monthly posts and will continue to improve upon this.
The home remodel is coming along nicely, I intend to have pictures posted once I can make some edits to exclude identities. We almost have our remodeling permits and we should be in the house 6-10 months from now.
I had a valuable conversation with a friend this evening. I will call him ME. ME is one of those friends that you can talk to for hours about anything. A legitimate lifelong friend who will call it how he sees it and is productively honest in conversation. I truly appreciate his insight, and ultimately his talk gave me the motivation to write this post this evening. One of the topics that stemmed from our discussion was pondering the meaning of life and our pursuit of happiness. There are not many people in this world in which you can have or would want to have that mind boggling talk with, but we were efficient and didn’t go too far into the weeds.
Without writing a novel (although I probably should and will be called out on my laziness) I have a simplistic answer to both and that is I am genuinely happy when I am able to make others feel happiness either through good deeds, charity work, gifts or random surprises and I believe that we need to find what truly makes us happy as well as understanding that:
We should all enjoy and cherish our unique journeys, because we will all end up at the same destination.
ME, thank you for the talk. You gave me inspiration.
Have a great week everyone!
GD
