Living in Florida, we have recently endured a powerful storm that has left many without power, shelter, food, water or fuel. Many people are going through hardships because of Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Harvey in Texas.
KD and I have been fortunate and we sustained very little loss. While remodeling our home, we have been living with KD’s parents and we were lucky to only lose power for 36 hours. Many households are going days and some are estimated to go weeks before power is restored.
Our home is on a lake with a canal on the backside of the house. Because of the low-lying areas we sustained 6+ inches of flooding.
The storage shed which is holding most of our belongings from our first home also had flooding. Most of our items were off the ground on cinder blocks so we lucked out here. (note that the storage garage is not what is pictured to the right, this is the old shed). Within 24 hours all the water drained into the lake and we were in the clear.
All in all, we made it through fine and are adjusting back to our everyday lives. I hope that everyone who was affected by this natural disaster can make a quick recovery and I wish you the best of luck in getting your life back to normal.
Best Regards,
GD
