Long time… No Post!

Hi everyone,

GD here. Over the past month and a half, I have been running all over the place. Between my 3 classes at school and my part-time job, I haven’t truly been off since vacation during the last week of June. All of this running around has caught up to me, and today I have succumb to my body’s plea. I woke up this morning feeling very sick. With a ten-hour shift ahead of me, I knew I wouldn’t make it. Having to call out, missing out on more money (~$140) and of course feeling terrible. However, this time has allowed me to reflect on how great my life has been lately and where I am heading!

Recently, I decided to apply for a credit card. In doing so, I knew I had to find one that would cater to my spending needs. I fumbled upon Amazon’s Reward Card and new it was the right fit. So far so good, the benefits are great and I am nearly at $25 in rewards. I have been paying the balance in full and this seems to be working out for day-to-day spending.

Even more recently, KB and I have opened up another joint bank account, hoping to make this account our primary savings and contribute about $225 a week to it even when our full course load is upon us in the fall. If we can maintain $900 a month, by the time we graduate (Spring 2017), we will have ~$18,900 for a solid down payment on a house. I feel like what is so good about this plan, is that we aren’t sacrificing Lending Club ($40 a week), our 401k’s (combined $50 a week) and Acorns (~$15 a week). I have been so proud that we are utilizing the maximum amount of money that we have to invest and save for the future. We may even use some of the 18k to pay off my car and stock/computer loans over the next year. Look out for my next post, I plan on diving into each of the investing services that I use!

Until next time,

-GD
